Sports Therapy in Malaysia is something that is new and not many are aware of its importance. Not many people care about the importance of practicing sports massage in an effort to improve sports performance. According to current statistics, about 80% - 90% of the athletes do not get a sports massage before and after sport. They just get a sports massage if you have an injury or if recommended by a doctor.
The main purpose of sports massage is to help improve an athlete's performance no matter what kind of sports. In the concept of training or competition, an athlete must undergo a step by step to achieve optimum performance. Sports massage helps in preparing an athlete to compete. Sometimes, when an athlete is doing a warm-up activity, it is not sufficient to provide 100% ready athlete.
How sports massage can enhance an athlete's performance? When muscles are well-prepared, then training can be carried out smoothly and effectively. Most
of the case, coaches and athletes do not know why the performance is
still not improved despite training throughout the year. This is because, every muscle training is still in a state is not ready. When the muscle is still not ready for training, will be more pressure and can cause muscles hurt. After training, the athlete will feel pain in the muscles and they will massage the muscle itself. In fact, experiencing muscle pain can not be massaged. This is because it can increase the level of injury. Pressed injured muscles (massage) can affect the muscle recovery process. If the muscles are constantly injured, how can in increase physical performance of athletes?
Most coaches think that warm-up is sufficient to conduct the training. Should,
immediately after the warm-up, the coach should encourage athletes to
do the pre-event sports massage which takes less than 3 minutes
